Our History

The Drifters, Inc. was conceived in Waco, Texas in 1954. By December, the first chapter was established in Chicago. During the next two years, chapters were organized in Louisville, Indianapolis, St. Louis, New York and Greater Kansas City. The first and founding convention of The Drifters, Inc. was hosted by the Chicago Chapter at the Sheraton-Chicago Hotel from October 11-13, 1957.

Over the years, The Drifters, Inc. continues to be in the public focus - not only because of our unique charitable, civic, and social involvement - because we continue our on-going commitment to serve as role models and to enhance the universal image of womanhood in the cities where we reside.  We have 34 Chapters throughout the United States
